The International Festival of TV Broadcasters and Independent Producers “SIMFEST”, now on it’s 17th edition, takes place again this year, at Tîrgu Mureș, despite the pandemic, which hit even the volunteer team. For this reason, the organizers were forced to look for solutions for an online event. Only some of the events with the public were canceled (exhibitions, public screenings of the productions in the competition and of some films received from partners, book launches, etc.). Some of the them will move to the virtual space, through the social media pages of the festival: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube. So, follow us on these channels between the 14th and 19th of September.
Tîrgu Mureș entered, through SIMFEST, into the gallery of cities that host major festivals. The statistics provide the following figures: 1.284 competing productions from 92 countries; 226 productions selected in the final selection, by a jury of 10 specialists in television and cinematography (they worked hard this past few weeks, among others: the renowned film critic Manuela Cernat, prof. univ. dr. Brîndușa Armanca, prof. univ. Alexandru Condurache, well-known TV producers Irina Păcurariu, Diana Deleanu and Emil Hossu Longin et al.); 69 productions from Romania; for the first time, massive presence of student creations (over 300, of which over 30 from Romania, 18 coming from UNATC Bucharest).
An international jury is already analyzing the productions selected in the official selection.
Iran, India and the USA are at the top of the listings, but productions from countries that few have heard of, such as Malawi or Cape Verde, have entered the competition.
The list of selected productions for the final phase will be soon published on the Facebook page of the festival: Simfest Romania and on the website: www.simfest.ro. Also there, the events organized online will be announced in due time.
